NJ KKOTTONGNAE

Greeting

Praise Jesus, Amen!
Love you all.

I am Fr. Oh, John Woongjin, IKBJ.

In 1976, Grandpa, Choi Guidong who had dedicated his life begging for food past 40 years with one can for those who couldn’t beg food for themselves. Through his life even if you have only the strength to beg for food it is the blessing of the Lord. That enlightment was the beginning of the Kkottongnae.

In Kkottongnae with the words of Jesus
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine you did it for me. (Mat 25, 40)”, we have practiced love that transcends religion and nationality, acting as an apostolate to save the lives of the poor, the naked, the starving, and the dying on the streets

The world that Kkottongnae dreams of is where no one is lost behind or everyone is respected like God or I love my neighbor as myself.

I am small, but I’ll give my life. Let’s do it together.

Love you all.
Founder of Kkottongnae, Father John Woongjin Oh, IKBJ

Praise Jesus! Saranghamnida.

(God loves you and we love you.)

Greeting from Sister James Soon,IKSJ, a missionary in Kkottongnae New Jersey!

Thank you for your interest in Kkottongnae New Jersey, and for visiting our site. Kkottongnae is a non-profit charity with a mission to practice evangelical love for the helpless who do not even have the strength to ask for food, and who suffer from poverty, disease, and hunger, not only for bread, but also for love. Kkottongnae consists of the religious of the congregation of Kkottongnae Brothers and Sisters of Jesus, and its associated third secular society members, and the general members. The headquarters of Kkottongnae in Korea was established in 1976 by the founder, Father Woong-jin Oh, and the New Jersey branch was established in Orange Town in the Archdiocese of Newark in 2002, which has continued to today. Kkottongnae in New Jersey currently has four locations (Orange Town, Gillette Retreat House, Pocono Spiritual Center, and Hackettstown), fulfilling different characteristics of the mission.

Orange Town’s location houses a small senior home, a convent, and a chapel of the Holy Face of Jesus. A variety of programs is provided, including looking after senior people, helping the local homeless and the poor, and providing food to Haiti. For this mission, all different members of Kkottongnae actively work together with the volunteers, often teams of parents and children. In addition, prayers for devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus are dedicated daily in the chapel. Gillette Retreat House is provided as a place for prayer for small and medium groups. The training of and retreats for secular society members also take place here.

Pocono Spiritual Center is a specialized retreat house for families and church groups or any small groups, geared for home evangelization, which allows outdoor programs. Finally, the Hackettstown location has an organic vegetable garden and a small orchard, on the land of approximately 100 acres. To save even one more poor soul and to help the poor suffering from poverty in the Third World, we initiated a capital campaign to build a support center on this lot.

The main mission of Kkottongnae New Jersey is to support 350 brothers and sisters in Kkottongnae Haiti and send food to them, as well as to other locals, who suffer from the national crisis of facing political, economic, and social collapse. You can become a Kkottongnae general member with as little as $1 or more per month, and join us for various activities, such as picking up donated goods, market donation campaign, and packing service. You are already blessed by God. Please join us in helping our poor neighbors.

Thank you. Saranghamnida.
